Description

One of a set of elemental mice. (Hey, it seemed like a good idea at the time! Admittedly, the time was at the end of a really long weekend of manning a table at a convention, and everything up to ground sloths in ballet costumes sounded like a good idea, but that's beside the point.) This one went kinda Art Nouveau on me, a style that I love dearly and am generally afraid to try in real media, 'cos...y'know...swirly curvy bits ad infinitum...it's fine digitally, but gets scary in real media. But I succumbed anyway, because all the yellows and tans were too soft to have good contrast, so I started inking it to get the harder lines so it would stand out, and suddenly, wham, Art Nouveau attack. Curse you, Mucha, and your brillliant squishy organic curves! Aieeee!

Ahem. I'm fine. Really.

Watercolor, colored pencil, acrylic ink, etc, 9 x 12 on hotpress watercolor block. Original sold, prints available.

Very nice work, I agree that the mouse looks a bit sad, but otherwise the piece is SOLID. I'm a huge fan of Mucha as well so I may be a bit biased. I'm of the opposite opinion though I think those wonderful curvey lines are sexier and easier to do in analog media rather than digital.
